<p><a href="http://smartypantsvitamins.com/blog/?p=797" title="SmartyPants on HFCS" target="_blank">Recent studies </a>show very strong links between HFCS and obesity, as well as a host of other nasty ailments.  Given that Americans eat 38lbs of this stuff per person every year (and the rate of consumption is increasing), we might want to think about how to avoid eating it.  I try to not give it to my kids or eat it myself but it is virtually impossible to avoid it in our culture.  Also, it points out the folly  of shaming obese kids when all they are given to eat is loaded with HFCS.   Thought
